Lasting Partnership Training Center, Inc.
Boarding
We are now offering full care boarding!    We have 14 indoor stalls, 10 stalls with runs and four
large paddocks with shelters. Board includes hay, daily turnout into one of our 5 acre or larger
pastures, and room to store your tack and grain.  Boarders also have access to the indoor
arena, outdoor arena, obstacle course and outdoor round pen.
When you decide to board your horse with us you are not simply getting a safe stall.  Each
horse is treated like one of our own; they are each given personal attention every day, and are
always treated with empathy and respect.  We go to great lengths to ensure your horse is
healthy and happy.  We try to notice any differences in attitude, and any injury no matter how
small.  Great care is going into the design of our layout to make it not only safe and
comfortable for the horse, but for the owners as well. We have a refrigerator, coffee pot and
microwave that visitors are welcome to use.  We also have seating for visitors near the arena.
We are always open to suggestions as to how to improve our facility!  If you are interested in
letting your horse come stay with us please contact us!!

Training
LPTC is proud to announce that Michelle Conner, professional horse trainer, offers her
training services!!
Michelle is a graduate of Clay Harper and Sandy Carpenter-Rose's apprenticeship program.
Clay is a John Lyons' Select Certified trainer and continues to further his own horse-education
by working with/under numerous trainers he meets.  Sandy is long time professional trainer of
all breeds and disciplines, and has been very successful in the show ring.  She is also an
excellent instructor.  The two have slightly different approaches to training, and greatly
compliment each other!!

From Michelle:
"I prefer "Natural Horsemanship" methods; pressure and release.  I feel each trainer has
something to teach and do not prefer one particular method over another.  Each horse is an
individual and it just doesn't make sense to pick one method and stick with it.  Along with my
apprenticeship under Clay Harper, I have participated in many natural horsemanship clinics,
as well as some draft horse clinics.  I take bits and pieces from each clinic, book and video
and combine that with my own experiences to find the best way to work with a particular horse.
I am continually looking to expand my knowledge, and will continue to read new (and new to
me) training books, watch videos and attend clinics.

I want to focus on building a strong, willing partnership between horse and human-both on the
ground and in the saddle.  When you create a willing partnership with your horse you will both
be happier.  I want to show horses and people how to achieve this partnership.  I personally
have no interest in showing or competing; I like to ride and drive for pleasure, both mine and
the horses.

I also feel strongly that every horse deserves a chance, and thoroughly enjoy working with
"problem horses."  Whether the horse comes from a sketchy past or has simply had little to no
training, most horses will come around in time-if given a chance..."

Training Services

Ground Work:   This is where building that partnership starts!  We have all seen horses that
need ground work.  From the horse that will not lead or will not stand patiently at your side or
will not load into the trailer or will not let you pick up his feet, so many horses could greatly
benefit from ground work!  LPTC feels ground work is crucial in any training program. If a
horse does not respect you on the ground how can you expect him to respect you when you
are in the saddle or wagon? If you are having trouble with your horse please give us a call and
we can work on that ground work!!
.
Bomb proofing:  Bomb proofing and any type of training go hand in hand!  While no horse is
completely bombproof, LPTC feels the more they are exposed to the less they will shy away
from out on the trail or at a show.  We like to expose a horse to anything we can dream up,
from plastic bags and tarps; crossing bridges and water; balloons, loud noises, carrying a
flag, you name it!  We start by exposing them to these things from the ground and work into
doing it from the saddle.  We are very excited to be adding to out obstacle course this
summer, and are looking forward to playing with all of the horses in training!!

Saddle Training:  At LPTC, we start from the ground and work up.  We want a relationship
based on trust and will not rush the horse, We let the horse decide when he is ready for a
saddle and rider.  We do feel most horses need 90 days to become pretty confident under
saddle.  They are still "green" and need a lot of consistent work after this period, but are well
on their way to becoming a good riding horse!  In the first 90 days we will work on the basics:
walk, trot, lope, whoa, back, side pass, pivots, roll backs, etc.  As much as the horse is
comfortable learning.  This will be a great foundation for whatever area of riding  you plan to do
with your horse!

Beginning Driving Training:  Driving is a very fun activity you can do with your horse and also
compliments riding training very well!  LPTC likes to start out in a surcingle and halter and
work up to a harness and pulling light things around the arena.  You gradually progress
through getting them used to shafts and pulling more and more of a load, until you are finally
in a cart behind them!  If you would like to start driving, give us a call!
